The new album of Michael Kiske, Past In Different Ways, will be released on October 7th in the USA by the record deal Blistering Records through Ryko/Warner distribution.
Past In Different Ways was previously released in Europe on May 9th through Frontiers Records and in Argentina through Icarus Music, and in Japan by King Records on July 23th.

Michael Kiske answered more questions in the section: Q & A (Questions & Answers). And he speaks about the new album of Place Vendome project and how is the vocal recording process on his albums and projects.
Fanclub: What's your opinion about the new PLACE VENDOME album, it looks to be more A.O.R. orientated, isn't it? Does it take a lot of time to record the vocals for your projects?
Michael Kiske: "Yes, it's more AOR this time. I like it very much so far. Very different to the stuff I normally do.
To record the vocals for the projects I usually need two, maybe three evenings (2 hours) for a song to get learned and to find the right performance. Often also just one evening.
I always do MY thing. I don't believe in vocals were singers are just puppets of other people. That makes very static and unconvincing vocals for my ears.
The singer always has to be himself. If someone wants me to sing a song and I say yes to it, it gets ''kiskelized''."

This time the songs have been supplied also by Ronny Milianowicz (SAINT DEAMON, PRIMAL FEAR), Torsti Spoof (LEVERAGE) and Robert Sall (WORK OF ART).
We spoke with the main compositors of the new PLACE VENDOME album to get more information about it. Ronny Milianowicz (SAINT DEAMON, PRIMAL FEAR), Torsti Spoof (LEVERAGE) and Robert Sall (WORK OF ART) speaks about the songs composed by them.
Torsti Spoof: "I wrote "Dancer", "Changes", "Belivier" and "Streets of fire". Tuomas Heikkinen and Pekka Heino wrote the lyrics.
The songs are very melodic hard rock. "Changes" is a bit more AOR than the rest. The songs are not so far from the style of the first album at all. "Streets Of Fire" and "Dancer" are a bit on the heavier side. It is up to the producer how the songs end up sounding: how heavy, how AOR etc... I can't wait to hear the finished album."
Ronny Milianowicz: "My songs are "Surrender Your Soul", "Completely Breathless" and "A Scene In Replay". I think it's very AOR and especially "Surrender Your Soul" and "A Scene In Reply". "Compleatly Breathless" could be a modern pop/metal song.
Kiske sang on the greatest album of all time Keeper 2, to be able to write something for him is a dream come true. Since I started write music back in 88 I always thinking a voice like Kiske in my head when I compose so finally I get the original voice to my compositions :-)"
Robert Sall: "I wrote "Follow Me" and "Valerie". These songs sounds more like the songs on the WORK OF ART album which I think it's a bit softer than the first PLACE VENDOME record. I didn't write these songs specifically for PLACE VENDOME and I'm a bit surprised that the record company wanted these songs for the new VENDOME record but I hope the VENDOME fans, as well as Mr.Kiske, will enjoy them anyway!!"
Frontiers Records hopes to release the new album in late 2008 or early 2009.

Here is the interview we made with Carl-André Beckston designer of the last Michael Kiske albums: "Past In Different Ways" (2008), "Kiske" (2006), and the project "Place Vendome" (2005).
A few excerpts from the interview are:
André: "In my artworks and designs, I often tend to exaggerate paradoxes and contrasts, such as lights and shadows, warm and cold colours; but also associative shapes and metaphoric truths. In a way I am a symbolistic expressionist.".
André: "When I worked for TNT, and the album "All The Way To The Sun", - I did over 100 different sketches. Since the title of the album changed many times, there was a need for a different visual profile in each of the sketches. It was a great ride, and really put me to the test. The result is the album that is out today".
André: "He (Kiske) is very easy to work with since he tells what he likes and doesn’t like. He listens to my ideas and comments them very directly, and that is because he has good eye for art. Many musicians only have an ear for music, but I feel Kiske has both".

Problems with Frontiers |

After that will edit the new album from REVOLUTION RENAISSANCE: "New Era", the new band from Timo Tolkki part ways with the italian record deal.
Timo Tolkki: "Yesterday I finally got confirmation that we are able to do this. They (Frontiers) simply were not the right label for us. That became absolutely clear in the last few months. I would describe the experience with Frontiers Records with the word interesting. I am currently negotiating with several labels, but I haven't made any decision yet. There is a lot of interest and that feels good".
On an interview for German Stormbringer website, Michael Kiske said: "I have to see what the future will bring, because all the time one tries to force me into unfree music and due to this, probably I can't work with Frontiers anymore. Someday I have to go on stage again, but that's only possible, if I get enough audience, which is able to follow my nowadays music and not still the gone one".
Finally Michael and Frontiers Records have decided to continue working with each other for the new album despite a difference of opinion on both sides.
